Hayes Valley

Central & Artistic

Hayes Valley is one of San Francisco’s most popular destination neighborhoods. You can trust our San Francisco real estate agents when they say that Hayes Valley maintains a strong sense of community and culture. Hayes Valley offers trendy boutiques, So-Ho style art galleries and is home to the SF JAZZ Center.

Centrally located between the Van Ness performing arts district and the Western Addition around Laguna street, the homes for sale in Hayes Valley offer you easy access to transportation services like MUNI, BART, tech buses and car share. If you have a car, many large structures will have garages and parking available in the rear of the building. With a high walk score of 92, you’ll find restaurants, nightlife and shopping at almost every corner. Popular eateries such as Zuni Cafe and Rich Table, as well as Blue Bottle Coffee and Smitten ice cream are neighborhood favorites.

In Hayes Valley you’ll find a mix of new condominium buildings (8 Octavia, 400 Grove, 300 Ivy and the Hayes) mixed in with Victorian flats and the occasional single family house. Browse the Hayes Valley properties below to find your dream home in this hip San Francisco neighborhood.

I moved to the heart of Hayes Valley (Linden & Octavia) 13 years ago and it was my first SF neighborhood so I’ve seen it go through a major transformation for the better! What used to be a freeway offramp is now a walkers oasis full of some of the best restaurants and shops in the city!

Greggory’s Picks

Dining & Entertainment

  • Salt & Straw - impossible to walk by and smell it and not pop in for some ice cream.

  • Martunis - hands down, my favorite bar in San Francisco. It’s a mix of regulars and tourists in the dimly lit cabaret fan oasis. I’ve spent many evenings singing in the back room over a large rye manhattan

  • Brass Tacks - Charming mixology bar with delicious craft cocktails right off Patricia Green’s parkSuppenkuche - authentic German food in an authentic German setting. You’ll leave stuffed with barely enough room for Salt & Straw!

  • Absinthe - one of the best burgers in town! A perfectly charming setting great for a date night. (Fun fact: I had my 2nd date with my husband here - followed by a drink at Martunis!)

  • Hayes Valley is the arts and cultural hub of the city housing the San Francisco Ballet, San Francisco Symphony, SF Jazz, The SHN Theatre, The Herbst Theatre, The Norse Theatre, as well as galleries and open air art installations.

Shopping

  • All Birds - The most comfortable shoes I own and run all over town for work in them almost every day. Flagship store right in the heart of HV!

  • Buck Mason - My absolute favorite clothing store in SF. Excellent fit, styles, and not crazy “Hayes Valley boutique” prices! Half of my casual wardrobe is from this fabulous store.
